understanding the complex processes in "system Earth"
Natural conditions in arctic regions translated into a versatile design language
Alfred Wegener Institut is a German research institute for polar and marine research. Together with national and international partners, they are involved in understanding the complex processes in "System Earth". They observe the role of the polar regions in the global climate system and analyze short-term fluctuations and long-term trends.
Since the planet is in the middle of a severe climate change, it is now also futurology.
Our task was to identify weaknesses in communication and visual appearance and to design a new corporate image across different media.
Since our focus was on the polar regions, it was important to us to pick up on the geographical conditions and incorporate them into the visualization. The appearance should pick up the constant change, the movement and the surface texture of ice and illustrate it in a diverse way.
I worked on this project with my good friend Antonia Wagner during our studies at the Hochschule für Gestaltung.
